Sustainable 60: Active Rest Fundamentals
"Active rest" is LET's term for "deal with stress." Practicing the habit of Active Rest means performing at least one ACTION that will help you REST.
For some, you may deal with a chaotically busy life right now or find yourself constantly doing things for other people. Active Rest for you may mean 30 minutes to do something YOU enjoy to help you recharge.
For others, sometimes 30 minutes of sitting still and detoxing from electronics can help your mind destress from the constant phone calls, emails, and reasons to stay distracted or busy.
Some other ideas for you might be:
- Taking a walk outside after sitting at your desk all day.
- Reading a book you enjoy.
- Talking to a friend.
- A quick power nap to slow your heart rate and calm your mind.
- Working out while listening to some good music, or while listening to nothing at all.
- Journaling.
- Baking.
- Cleaning.
- Taking a bath.
- Meditation.
Whatever your version of Active Rest, just make sure you are ACTIVELY taking steps to let your body, mind, and spirit REST.
